Mark Lee will join Florian Idenburg and Jing Liu in a discussion on SO-IL’s first monograph “solid objectives: order, edge, aura” at Arcana: Books on the Arts in Los Angeles
“solid objectives: order, edge, aura” is a visual and textual manifesto that introduces an attitude towards the design and realization of architecture in an interconnected environment. As a collection of built and unbuilt projects, texts, processes and experiments from the firms fist eight years of work (2008-2016), the book proposes an architecture that requires interpretation.

Join Mark Lee and Lorraine Wild for a gallery talk in Moholy-Nagy: Future Present.
László Moholy-Nagy, one of the most versatile figures of the twentieth century avant-garde, believed in the potential of art as a vehicle for social transformation and in the value of new technologies in harnessing that potential. A pioneering painter, photographer, sculptor, and filmmaker as well as graphic, exhibition, and stage designer, Moholy fluidly moved between the fine and applied arts and conceived of creative production as a multimedia endeavor.
Mark Lee, principal, Johnston Marklee designed Moholy-Nagy: Future Present. Graphic designer Lorraine Wild is principal, Green Dragon Office. Carol S. Eliel, curator of Modern Art, LACMA and co-curator of Moholy-Nagy: Future Present will also participate in the conversation.
Moholy-Nagy: Future Present is on view at LACMA until June 18, 2017

Johnston Marklee in “Spaces without drama” at Graham Foundation, Chicago
Johnston Marklee is featured in the exhibition “Spaces without drama or surface is an illusion, but so is depth”
Curated by Wonne Ickx and Ruth Estevez: LIGA Space for Architecture, the exhibition examines the recent proliferation of collage in architectural representation in relationship to scenography and theatrical set design.
The exhibition is presented by the Graham Foundation and will be on view from February 16 – July 1, 2017

In Fall 2016, Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee serve as the Frank Gehry International Visiting Chairs in Architectural Design. Named for Toronto-born architect Frank Gehry, the Gehry International Visiting Chair in Architectural Design brings global architects to the Daniels Faculty. Alongside the annual lecture, the chairs also teach a graduate-level studio course.
On November 3, they will join Michelle Addington, Hines Professor of Sustainable Architectural Design at the Yale School of Architecture, at the University of Toronto Innis Town Hall Theatre for a talk entitled “When do looks matter more than performance?”
