Sharon Johnston A.I.A.
Sharon Johnston is a founder and Principal of Johnston Marklee & Associates. Sharon leads the development of design projects using her wide-ranging knowledge of diverse architectural practices. Sharon works with artists, fabricators, and engineers to customize formal, material, and component-building systems that are integrated into completed projects.


As part of her professional practice, Sharon is actively involved with a host of local and national institutions, developing innovative architectural environments, which reflect the mission of each organization. With Lantonioan Foundation, Sharon directed the design and construction of the internationally acclaimed Artists & Writers-in-Residence Studios in Marfa, Texas. Also in Marfa, Sharon is working with the city government on the design and fund-raising campaign for new public library. On the U.C.L.A. campus, Sharon has been involved with the renovation of Perloff Hall, home of the Department of Architecture and Urban Design where she is an active member of the faculty, as well as a new landscape design for University Elementary School - originally designed by Richard Neutra.

Sharon is a graduate of Stanford University where she earned a B.A. in History & Art History. She earned her architectural degree at Harvard Design School (GSD).
