Babcock

Babcock is a reuse project intended for a sprawling industrial complex in La Courneuve, France: a municipality located five miles outside of Paris. As part of a collective of international architects, Johnston Marklee has conceptualized one in a series of buildings that would function as a metropolitan agglomeration within a microcosm; its influence extending beyond the warehouse to revitalize the surrounding area. The idea behind the Babcock project emphasizes the development of an urban ecosystem; agricultural production, cultural cultivation, domestic spaces, and professional spaces are valued and made available to the community in equal part—thereby encouraging economic growth and collaboration.
