Honor Fraser

This 3,000 square foot space for art and display for the Honor Fraser gallery is carved out of an existing exhibition hall. Located in a strip of Culver City filled with art dealers and car customization shops, the entry from the street opens to a sparsely appointed lobby with plywood walls and concrete floors. An angled, seamless mass, finished in ultra-reflective black auto paint highlights the textures of these unfinished materials. The “customized” form serves as an interior facade and an entry to the art spaces, offices, and storage rooms. The two gallery spaces are designed as well-proportioned, highly refined rooms for viewing, incorporating minimal detailing with exposure to natural light, providing total flexibility for the curation of art.
