Nano, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)

Dec 14, 2003 - Sep 06, 2004

Nano, an exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum Art, merges architecture, visual art, and science by presenting the world of nanotechnology through a series of interactive installations.A collaboration between architects Johnston Marklee & Associates, LACMA, a UCLA team of nanoscience, media arts and humanities experts, Nano was on view at LACMA’s Boone Gallery from December 14, 2003, through September 6, 2004.The exhibition provides an extraordinary opportunity for the future of nano-scale science to engage 100,000 visitors annually through a visual and spatial experience.

Establishing the essence of viewer experience, the exhibitions’ architecture actively shapes the relationship between the exhibition media and the gallery visitor. The role of architecture within the context of museum exhibitions is evolving and Nano demonstrates new possibilities for the ways in which the museum presents and the viewer experiences works of art.
